As a pastor taking his first group to the Holy Land, I was so thankful to have the Travel with Friends team helping me every step of the way. They were amazing from the day that we picked the date to the day we returned. We loved the support staff, the guides, the accommodations and the travel arrangements. Highly recommended!

Day 3 Caesarea Philippi / Capernaum / Mount of Beatitudes / Boat Ride / Tabgha / Magdala
Refreshed from a good night’s sleep, we rise early to enjoy an Israeli breakfast buffet. Today we travel north to Caesarea Philippi where Peter proclaimed to Jesus, “You are the Christ!” (Matthew 16). As we drive through the Golan Heights we will understand the strategic importance of this area to the security of Israel. Then we go to Capernaum, the headquarters of Jesus’ ministry (Matthew 4). We will enjoy a delicious lunch of St. Peter’s fish at a restaurant along the seashore. Visit the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount overlooking the Sea of Galilee (Matthew 5-7). Take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee in a replica of a boat used in Jesus’ day. Then we will go to Tabgha, where Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes. Visit Magdala, the home of Mary Magdalene (Luke 8). We return to our hotel for dinner and another overnight stay.
Day 4 Caesarea Maritima / Mt Carmel / Megiddo / Nazareth / Cana / Yardenit for Baptism in the Jordan River
This morning we drive to Caesarea Maritima on the Mediterranean Sea. This ancient port city was built by Herod the Great and was the site of major events in the lives of Peter and Paul. This is where the first Gentile, Cornelius the Centurion, and his household were baptized (Acts 10). Visit Mt. Carmel, where Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18). Then we visit the ancient city and military fortress of Megiddo. From here we overlook the fertile Jezreel Valley, later referred to as the Valley of Armageddon (Revelation 16). We will drive by Cana, where Jesus performed His first miracle. Then we visit Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus and stand on the Mount of Precipice, the place where a mob attempted to throw Jesus off the cliff. From there we go to Yardenit, where you will have an opportunity to be baptized in the Jordan River. Our day ends with dinner back at our hotel.
Day 5 Beit She’an / Jericho / Valley of the Shadow of Death / Jerusalem / The Western Wall
Today we leave the Galilee region and begin our journey to Jerusalem. We will drive through the Jordan Valley and stop at Beit She’an, where we will see the excavations of Scythopolis, one of the ten cities of the Decapolis. As we continue through the Jordan Valley we will visit Jericho, the oldest known inhabited city in the world. There we will see the ruins of the ancient city conquered by Joshua (Joshua 6) and we will also see the traditional site of the Temptation of Jesus (Matthew 4). Then we drive through the Judean Wilderness and the Valley of the Shadow of Death as we drive up to Jerusalem. Our first sight of Jerusalem, the Golden City, will be from Mt. Scopus. Then we visit the Western Wall to witness the Sabbath transition as Jewish worshippers gather to celebrate. Tonight, we will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in our four-star hotel in Jerusalem.
Day 6 Mount of Olives / Garden of Gethsemane / House of Caiaphas / Bethlehem / Church of the Nativity / Shepherd’s Fields
Today we will visit the Mount of Olives as Jesus often did. Forty days after the Resurrection Jesus ascended to Heaven from this mount. As we walk down the Mount of Olives on the Palm Sunday Road we will pray in the Garden of Gethsemane among the ancient olive trees. From here we will have an excellent view of the Kidron Valley and the city of Jerusalem. Next we visit the House of Caiaphas, where Jesus was held the night before His crucifixion (Luke 22). This afternoon we will visit Bethlehem, where you will see the Church of the Nativity and the Shepherd’s Fields. Return to our hotel for dinner and another overnight stay in Jerusalem.
Day 7 Old City / Via Dolorosa / Mount Zion / Upper Room / City of David / Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial
Today we will travel back 2000 years as we take a walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem. We will walk the Via Dolorosa. Afterwards, we travel on to Mount Zion and the Upper Room, the place of the Last Supper (Mark 14) and where the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost. Next we visit the City of David and explore Hezekiah’s Tunnel then visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial to be touched by the moving images and stories. Return to our hotel for dinner and another overnight stay in Jerusalem.
Day 8 Masada/ Qumran/ Ein Gedi/ Dead Sea
Our day starts with a trip to Herod’s ancient fortress of Masada, which was built high atop a mountain on the edge of the Dead Sea. This afternoon we visit Ein Gedi, a natural spring in the wilderness, and see the Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Today’s journey will end with time and relaxation on the shore of the Dead Sea where those who want to can go for a swim, rather a “float”, in the salted waters of the Dead Sea. Return to our hotel for dinner and another overnight stay in Jerusalem
Day 9 Old City Tour / Pool of Bethesda / Temple Mount / Garden Tomb
We begin at the Lions Gate where we will see the old Crusader’s Church of St. Anne and the Pool of Bethesda (John 5). Then we will see Mount Moriah which is called Temple Mount. Here on the site of Solomon’s Temple stands the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Afterwards we will travel to the Garden Tomb where we will have a worship service and communion. A farewell dinner will be served; then we travel to Tel Aviv to board the overnight flight to the U.S.A.

I had a most wonderful trip, accompanied by 15 new friends from South Dakota led by Pastor Rooney, 4-13 Feb 20. Because I was a VERY late add-on to their trip, I dealt with 4 people from Friends and each was OUTSTANDING. However, the STAR who deserves special note is Kelsie Vail, the Air Specialist: she was able to save me over $1,700.00 on my upgraded seating [disabled Vet with BAD back]. She was incredibly personable, professional, and simply "down-home" friendly, genuine, and nice!! The trip was a true "bucket-list" adventure, walking where Jesus walked, preached, and performed miracles [I was overwhelmed many times and want to visit Israel again!]. The sights were amazing; the bus was quite comfortable; and our Tour Leader ("Charlie") and bus drivers were extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and Safety-conscious. Truly the VERY BEST overseas tour I have ever taken! Thank you, Friends, and especially VP Mitch Jensen and Kelsie Vail for all the pre-trip information, help overcoming flight delay/change, and post-trip timely assistance. They will NOT let you down! Shalom!
The faces of Friends www.TravelWithFriends.com, BTR (Bill), Claudia and Charlie Dajani. An amazing experience that could only be possible with this team! From the first of booking our trip through to seeing us off at the ticket counter for our return trip back to the states. I absolutely recommend going to Israel and doing it with Friends travel. Charlie, you are amazing. Charlie’s extensive knowledge, humor, care of the group and individuals, mapping and juggling of sites to make it seamless and timely was a true treasure. Outstanding job!!!!! You all helped make this an experience to remember, share and HIGHLY recommend! ❤️
