Day 3 The Sea of Galilee

With Bible in hand, sail the waters of the Sea of Galilee aboard a Kinnereth Sailing Company boat. Along the way, participate in a special on-board worship service. Travel to Capernaum, the center
of Jesus’ ministry in the Galilee. Visit the synagogue that stands on the site where Jesus taught (Matthew 4:13,23) and Simon Peter’s house where Jesus healed Simon’s mother-in-law (Luke 4:38- 39). Kibbutz Nof Ginnosar, you’ll learn about the “Ancient Boat,” a 2,100 year-old example of the kind of boat in which Jesus would have sailed. For our noon meal you’ll dine on St. Peter’s Fish (Matthew 17:27). You then travel to the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus preached to the people (Matthew: 5-7) At Tabgha, the traditional location for the feeding of 5000, you’ll visit the Church of the Fish and the Loaves (Luike 9:10-17). You’ll also visit the Chapel of the Primacy where the resurrected Jesus appeared to his disciples and Peter professed his devotion to the risen Christ (John 21). Finally, you’ll visit the Jordan River at Yardenit, a modern baptism site. Return to your hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight (Ron Beach).

Day 4 Cana/ Nazareth/ Megiddo/ Caesarea

Cana/ Nazareth/ Megiddo/ Caesarea

Visit the Roman Aqueduct, Crusader Fortress, Hippodrome and Theatre at Caesarea, a center of early Christianity. Here, Cornelius became the first Gentile convert to the new religion (Acts 10) and Paul was imprisoned before being taken to Rome for trial (Acts 23:33-27:2). You’ll stand atop Mount Carmel, where Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal (I Kings 18). Next, you travel the ancient caravan route to Tel Megiddo where twenty (20) different cities lie superimposed upon each other. From the top you view the Valley of Armageddon, site of the last battle (Revelation 16:16). You’ll visit Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home (Matthew 2:23) and Mary’s well, a place Jesus would have been taken as an infant small child at least daily. Visit the fascinating Nazareth Village and learn how men and women worked and lived 2,000 years ago. Back to Tiberias for dinner and overnight (Ron Beach Hotel).

Day 5 Jerusalem

Stand atop the Mount of Olives as Jesus did and enjoy a remarkable view of the “Golden City”.

Day 6 Jerusalem and the Old City

Jerusalem and the Old City

Tour the Old City of Jerusalem where it all began. We will start at the Lions Gate to see the old Crusader’s Church of St. Ann, the pool of Bethesda and the remains of Antonia Fortress, which is believed to be the site of the trial of Jesus. Next will be a walk of the Via Dolorosa and visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and visit the Jewish Quarter and the “Wailing Wall”, followed by Mt. Moriah, also called Temple Mount. It is here at Solomon’s Temple where the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque stand. Mt. Moriah was where Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice, and is the perfect end to a truly memorable day. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Jerusalem.

Day 7 Jericho/ Qumran/ Bethany

Jericho/ Qumran/ Bethany

Tour Bethany, home of the siblings of Mary, Martha, Lazarus, Simon the Leper and where Jesus lodged. (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). Travel to Qumran, site of the Dead Sea Scroll discovery. Travel to Jericho and see the site of the Temptation of Jesus (Josh. 6; Matt.4). Spend night in Jerusalem.

Day 8 Rest before taking a flight to Istanbul

We will visit the bejeweled capital of Istanbul, which is home for 450 mosques

Day 9 Colossae/ Aphrodisias/ Laodicea

Colossae/ Aphrodisias/ Laodicea

The ruins of the famous city of Colossae give an interesting perspective on the receiver of Paul’s Letter to the Colossians, and the streets of ancient Hierapolis, that Paul mentions (Col. 4:13), that are still lined with columns, gates and arches. The city’s amphitheater is also perfectly in-tact, it has stood through time and earthquakes.

Day 10 Sardis/ Pergamum

We will see the amazing fabled 1000- foot Acropolis towers, which overlooks Pergamum. We will pass through the Royal Gates, to explore one of the great classic centers of Greek culture. We will visit the Temple of Zeus and Athena, and the ruins of the Library which once held 200,000 parchment volumes.

Day 11 Ephesus

This day centers around the ancient port city of Ephesus, one of the seven churches of Revelation (Rev.1-:11) which has been brilliantly excavated to see many of the major streets of the town and library. We will also see the Temple of Artemis, one of the “Seven Wonders of the World”. We will visit the Basilica of Saint John, the traditional site of his grave.
